Abstract  In 1968 the first issue of the newsletter American Arachnology was published. In 1972 the organizational meeting of the American Arachnological Society was held in Rustler's Park campground in the Chiracahua National Forest.  In 1975 the 4th annual meeting and first international meeting of AAS was held at Warrensburg Missouri.
